The government took a "short term, high risk approach", Labour says, which has left the UK exposed to rising inflation - and therefore rising costs down the line. "We tend to think everything is going to continue roughly as it is and you'll always be able to find a job later on in life. He said: "You really do need to sensibly stop, take where you are in life, and assess whether for example you've got enough money to get you through with the kind of lifestyle and living standards that you’re expecting. He also spoke to the paper about the recently introduced digital "mid-life MOTs", which are designed to help older workers with career skills, health guidance and financial planning. Mr Stride has previously spoken about how flexible working is "the way forward" and not "just for the over-50s but often for those who have disabilities". He added: "From an employer's point of view in a tight labour market, it's absolutely essential if you want to access all the available talent that you provide as flexible an offer as you can." On firms like Deliveroo, he touted the flexibility they offer with "riders" being able to set their own hours. Mr Stride said: "There are loads of great opportunities out there for people and it’s of course good for people to consider options they might not have otherwise thought of." Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride made the comments to The Times newspaper during a visit to the headquarters of food delivery firm Deliveroo, which has seen a 62% increase in riders aged over 50 since 2021. ![]() ![]() Whether they like jokes about their favorite animals, absurd humor or something even a little macabre, there will be something on this list that can tickle their funny bones.Cabinet minister Mel Stride has suggested that people over 50 should consider jobs such as delivering takeaways which are traditionally seen as being for younger people. These are the best jokes for kids in 2023 - and, with a list of more than 200, you'll probably be able to find one that'll meet them where they're at. No matter what stage they're in when it comes to their sense of humor, though, it's great if you can have a stockpile of gags ready to go for whenever the mood strikes. Then eventually, they'll want to start telling (or writing) their own, and you can see them work on their memorization, timing and delivery. As they get older, they get a greater appreciation for puns and plays on words, which is great if you're quick with a corny dad joke. When they're little, they might just be able to understand a simple one-liner or funny knock-knock joke. There's something amazing about watching a kid's sense of humor develop. ![]() ![]() The girls continue to face renewed personal challenges. Even as the screen fills with chaos there is never an indication of slow-down. This is made even more critical when the screen becomes full of enemies and projectiles, but Helldivers handles it well. There is enough of an isometric perspective to get more than an inkling of the character models and these intricacies, which is especially important given the emphasis on multi-player and discerning the multiple characters. This is a shame, because even from this perspective Helldivers looks great, especially for the genre. Viewed from a top-down perspective, Helldivers doesn't get a chance to show off much. Still, the story is completely reasonable to ignore, consciously or not, and still enjoy the game. ![]() But again, this is a lot more in the way of plot than say, Zombie Nation, and a lot more focus on telling a story too. It doesn't do much to add to the game as an attempt at depth, and honestly it hardly changes the gameplay only serving as a device to change up the enemies in a few missions. There is a slight nod to politics, and whether or not the government in place is a true democracy or just perceived as one. Finding new technology or completing a campaign has the feel of being a part of a bigger world. ![]() What Helldivers does do well is create an interesting world in which lends itself to the solar system trotting of each mission. But, this isn't a genre known for intricate plots, so Helldivers can be forgiven for the lack of one. Helldivers has a relatively simple story line and it's definitely not one of the stronger aspects of the game. With a large campaign and tons of unlockable weapons and deployments, Helldivers' Starship Troopers inspired setting combined with the ability for up to four players to team up, set it up as a great experience, especially for the genre. Helldivers brings an unmatched level of tactics to a genre that had little previously.
